Apology for Lack of Posts!

So, I know I've been a bit slow this week in terms of posts. And I've got a few really good reasons excuses.

  • I start my summer job on Tuesday and I've been packing in order to move in to my new place today!
  • Lots of finales were last week and summer shows start next week so there's not much to write about
  • I've been catching up on Desperate Housewives and Chuck - they're irresistible
Fun fact, by the way - MOST Desperate Housewives episodes are named after song lyrics from musicals written by Stephen Sondheim. And if you don't know who that is...poor you. I bet you know some of his shows and don't realize it. He's absolutely brilliant, and his style of writing has probably definitely biased me in my opinion of musical TV (Glee, musical episodes, etc.).

Anyways, hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day weekends. Wish me luck on Tuesday!

Glee Episode 20 - "Theatricality"

SPOILERS: Tuesday's Episode

Sorry for the delay!!! I really really liked this episode, and not just because there was Gaga. I mean, there was a lot of Gaga, it was great, but the whole episode was absolutely fantastic. This episode showed just how powerful Glee is, and it made me think a lot about the influence that Glee has on its viewers.

Stargate Universe Episode 18 - "Subversion"

SPOILERS: Yesterday's episode

Stargate Universe is getting better and better by the week. Seriously, they are learning to push my buttons. Or should I say "dial my Chevrons?" Uh, that just sounds a bit dirty, so I'll stick with the first. This week's episode was so good, to the point that it ended and I just went "wahhhh? Where's the rest?!" It leads into the two part season finale which doesn't start for 2 WEEKS!

Bones Season 5 Finale - "The Beginning in the End"

SPOILERS: Thursday's episode

Sorry for the delay, but to be honest, I wasn't really driven to write this review. It was a good episode, a cute episode, a lovable episode - but not a great episode. This episode was so hyped up as "the one that change everything," but to be honest, compare it to the season 1 or season 3 finales and it just doesn't hold its own.

Famous Actors: Whedon Characters versus Others

SPOILERS: Basic info on Whedon shows, no real spoilers

I found this article through a Bones blog because it references David Boreanaz. This is a really funny article that looks at actors who are famous for playing a "Whedon character" (an iconic character in a Joss Whedon show) versus other roles they've become famous for. I agree with a few points, disagreed with a few, and was shocked at Morena Baccarin's other role! Also, I got mad that Alan Tudyk was missing, so I wrote my own. Take a look, read what I thought, and post your opinion!

Glee Episode 19 - "Dream On"

SPOILERS: Tonight's episode, Power of Madonna and Home episodes, references to Broadway actresses you may have never heard about

This is episode was EXCELLENT. Really, one of the best Glee episodes in a while. Yes, that includes the Power of Madonna episode, and yes, I'll explain why in a bit, please don't get too angry right away. The director, Joss Whedon, who I am a huge fan of, did a wonderful job. Neil Patrick Harris, Johnathan Groff, and Idina Menzel were wonderful guest stars that really made this episode fantastic. And, damn, Kevin McHale (Artie) is far too brilliant to be stuck in a wheelchair, but he makes it work.

Castle Season Finale - "A Deadly Game"

SPOILERS: Last night's episode

To be totally honest, as much as I really like this show, and as fun as the case was, this was a bit of a disappointment in terms of a "season finale." There were good moments, and it would've been great as a normal episode, but to end the season it fell a bit flat. "Tick, Tock, Boom" did more, honestly, and would have been a better finale (in fact, when it aired, I made the mistake of thinking it WAS the finale). It did much more in terms of thrill and development, something this episode was kinda missing in the right amounts.

House Season Finale - "Help Me"

SPOILERS: Tonight's episode

Tonight's House episode was beautiful. That's all there is to say really. Absolutely beautiful, so please don't spoil it for yourself by reading on without watching the episode first. I'm serious, it was a stunning and wonderful episode, totally breathtaking, eventful, and impossible to predict. So last chance. Don't say I didn't warn you.

But first off, thank you roflrazzi.com

From my point of view, today's XKCD comic seems very well timed.

Stargate Universe Episode 17 - "Pain"

SPOILERS: Friday night's episode

When it comes to Stargate Universe, I still have not made up my mind about the series; not just how it compares to the rest of the franchise, but also whether I would be watching it if it was a standalone. Pain did very little to change my mind one way or another, which is surprising for such an emotional and action-low episode but there's still plenty to talk about, especially what it says about the characters and actors.

A Very Potter Musical (Plus news about the Sequel!)

SPOILERS: .... NONE unless you count basic info on the musical and books

Natalie's comment on my last post reminded me - musicals! Well, this one wasn't on Broadway - in fact, due to copyright law, the creators couldn't even charge for people who saw the performance live. But Team Star Kid,a group of friends from the University of Michigan, put together a wonderful musical parody based off all 7 Harry Potter books.

Which shows will I be writing about anyways?

It's almost summer, which means it's time for a show switchover from all the high powered finales of the spring to the new shows and beloved ones we forgot were missing all year.

As for spring shows whose finale I'll be covering:
House, Castle, Bones, NCIS, Big Bang Theory, and Glee

I also regularly watch, and would be willing to review, Survivor and Stargate Universe, but only if people would actually care for those reviews.

As for the summer, I haven't decided on a schedule yet, and a few new shows look promising. So, requests? Any genre - I'm currently planning on Burn Notice, Eureka, and White Collar.

Bones Season 5 Episode 21 Review - "The Boy with the Answer"

SPOILERS: Tonight's episode and numerous references to the Gravedigger arc

Basic Info

Okay, I may not have blogged before, but I know there's a few things I need to cover before I start posting.

First, intent. This blog is meant to be a way for sharing my ideas on TV shows, movies, and even Broadway musicals. Course, that doesn't mean I won't ever write about other stuff, but that's my main focus. I will always post spoiler warnings specific to the post (whether it spoils an episode or just covers background of a show). I will NEVER discuss future spoilers (unaired material) unless I have a VERY good reason. Promise.

Second, comments. I love discussion, so comment on anything you feel like, and go ahead and argue with me! Debating makes ideas all the better. That being said, I reserve the right to remove posts that are extremely obscene or provide future spoilers. Everyone should be able to read what you wrote without ruining their own experience.

Finally, legal stuff. I'm not affiliated with anyone I post about. Please don't sue me. Really. I would be very sad. Also, please don't use my material without citing me and/or giving me credit. Once again, I would be very very sad.

Now, with all the boring stuff aside, I can finally get to work! Enjoy!
