SPOILERS: House, Chuck, and Castle

Episode of the Day: Chuck, "Chuck Versus the Couch Lock", thanks to excellent use of the song "Dead Man's Party" by Oingo Boingo.

House, "Unplanned Parenthood"

  • The Cloverfield-like opening via camera was very interesting - sets up relationships of the patients, and addresses the fact that they aren't showing the birth
  • What if lung problems aren't coming from her lungs? - I heard this, and though about how this was once mysterious House speak, now common place in any episode, and makes perfect sense to fans
  • Bad bad adorable wonderful Rachel (and Wilson), they might be awful babysitters, but House and Wilson were absolutely brilliant together, as always [above]
  • It's Lane from Gilmore Girls!!!! (Dr. Chang) Don't pretend you weren't happy to see her...
  • Hate you, love you, hate you, love you - That's my interpretation of the patient and her daughter's story. I found it rather dull, though the medical part was interesting, but at least it had the good sense to back out of the way of the plot.
  • I've never seen two guys be so happy to do math in their head - and then be wrong, which leads to:
  • The end - hahahahahahaha, House, you are in sooo much trouble
A cute episode, very adorable and funny, but very light on the actual medical mystery or ethical dilemma side. Which I shouldn't have to say when it was a "mother or baby" decision. After years of wanting more background with my medical procedural, I've been a little overwhelmed in the past few weeks. Could we please just have a really great mystery? Please? Or have the House writers really lost the ability to thrill us medically? ...Ok, that last one sounds weird. But I think my point comes across.

Chuck, "Chuck Versus the Couch Lock"
  • 1st impression = Hey, it's that dude, on Casey's team! Oh, right, plot.
  • "I don't like him or his mouthy wife" (Casey talking about Clinton)
  • Nice with the backhanded compliments General Beckman - a good return to dealing with other Chuck issues, like his insecurity about becoming a heartless spy rather than his insecurities with Sarah
  • All the massive drugs Casey's taken
  • Dead Man's Party! At the funeral! I've loved this song since I first heard it used in some Bones season 5 trailers: here
  • Casey + Storm Trooper hat = priceless
  • Jeff and Lester  to the rescue...something no one should ever have to deal with
  • Make Casey angry!!!!!!! We all saw that coming, right? Still is was abso-freaking-lutely hilarious watch Morgan tell him about his relationship with Alex, especially after the botched hilarious epilogue ("Forgiveness.....Commie-hating forgiveness")
  • Casey and Morgan working together - and Morgan doing the insanely brave save-the-day moment; plus, he get's the girl in the end
  • Sarah - "I think my mom might be a bad guy" You're just figuring this out now Chuck? Next week is going to be so much fun.

Jayne Casey [above] is great. Those Firefly flashbacks will stop soon, right? Anyways, he's a total badass, and totally deserved his own episode. And it was wonderful. And hilarious. And dramatic. And just plain great.

Castle, "Anatomy of a Murder"
  • Jewish funeral, adorable, and brilliant because of its efficiency - not only fast to bury, but Jewish coffins must be biodegradable (so evidence wouldn't be preserved)
  • Gina, Martha, and Alexis, an evil trio
  • Dr. Monroe, I like it, subtle reference that I wouldn't have caught without Sanctuary earlier
  • Beckett and Castle's song - "You Talk Too Much", don't know it, but I'm looking it up
  • Air aneurism, always cool when it's used in procedurals (but come on, 20ccs of death, really Castle?)
  • seriously? seriously. seriously? seriously.
  • Now what's up with the cheery friendly straight guy?
  • What's up with Katona? Martha Stewart and Beverly Hills...and jail
  • Prison break! what a super cool idea, especially since it WASN'T EVEN THE MAIN PLOT
  • I didn't recognize the design of the bracelet myself so I was actually surprised at the end
Cheesy romance bits aside, this was a really cute episode that would've won if it weren't for the sheer awesome of a Casey-centric Chuck episode. The prison break subplot was a brilliant distraction from the actual culprit.

So what do you think? House too touchy-feely? Chuck going in the right direction for this week? Castle knocking the funny out of the park or getting repetitive?
